MOSCOW, July 8 The concession agreement on the implementation of the project for the construction of a high-speed highway Moscow — St. Petersburg was signed on Friday, July 5, the Prime Minister said -Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin.
“The construction of high-speed highways will open up additional opportunities for citizens and businesses; they will help significantly reduce travel time so that the journey from Moscow to St. Petersburg, as the president set the goal, will be about two hours. Last Friday, a concession agreement on the implementation of this project was signed. Thus, work has begun on the construction of a railway line with a length of almost 680 kilometers,” Mishustin said, speaking at a strategic session on the “Efficient Transport System” national project.
High-speed is considered a specialized electrified double-track railway line for operating trains at speeds from 200 to 400 kilometers per hour. There are no such roads in Russia yet. The pilot project will be the high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The road will be fully operational in 2028. Travel time will be 2 hours 15 minutes.
“I hope that all plans related to the implementation of the idea of creating the first high-speed highway in Russia will be implemented,” added the head of government.
