MOSCOW, July 8 An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred near coast of Peru, reports the country's Geophysical Institute.
The tremors were recorded at 14.33 local time (22.33 Moscow time) 74 kilometers south of the Lomas district, located in the Caraveli province of the Arequipa region. The epicenter lay at a depth of 32 kilometers.
Information about possible casualties and destruction has not yet been received.
