TBILISI, July 9 EU Ambassador to Tbilisi Pavel Gerchinsky said that the leaders of the European Union, having suspended the process of European integration for Georgia, are awaiting clarification from the government of the republic.
«In October, a report on enlargement will be published for all candidate countries, and in December, EU leaders will decide on the next steps. But in the current situation, I cannot imagine that Georgia will move forward this year, move to the next stage … EU leaders have decided to suspend Georgia’s accession process and are awaiting explanations from the Georgian government,” the ambassador told reporters.
Earlier on Tuesday, Gerchinsky said that at the moment the process of Georgia's integration into the European Union has been suspended.
