VNUKOVO-2, July 8 The plane of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Moscow's Vnukovo-2 airport, the correspondent reports.
Of Russian officials, he was met by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.

Modi, getting off the plane, made a welcoming “namaste” gesture with his hands and, going down the ramp, shook Manturov’s hand. After that, he listened to the orchestra perform the Russian and Indian anthems, and then greeted the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs who was greeting him. Then the prime minister left the airport.

The politician's visit will last until July 9; this is his first trip to Russia in five years. Before departure, the prime minister said that he was looking forward to meeting Vladimir Putin, calling him a friend. He noted that the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past ten years, including in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
As the representative specified Kremlin Dmitry Peskov, the informal part of the visit will begin this evening. First Deputy Foreign Minister of India Vinay Kwatra said earlier that Modi will attend a private dinner with Putin in the evening.

Official negotiations will take place on Tuesday around noon. A private conversation and dialogue in the format of an official breakfast are planned. There is no provision for any joint communication with the press. Peskov noted that an expanded exchange of views is expected at these meetings, which “will largely compensate for the lack of statements for the media.”

On Tuesday, Modi will also meet with the Indian community in Russia, lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and visit Rosatom pavilion at the exhibition in Moscow.
As the Kremlin press service previously reported, the leaders of the two countries will discuss the prospects for the development of traditionally friendly Russian-Indian relations, as well as current issues on the international and regional agenda.
