MOSCOW, July 9 The commander of a company of marines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Pyatka, was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in prison for the murder of a civilian in Mariupol, according to the Telegram channel of the Russian Investigative Committee.
It was previously reported that the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the allegedly deceased captain of the Ukrainian armed forces, Viktor Pyatka, under the article of cruel treatment of prisoners of war or civilians, or the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare. 
“The evidence collected by the RF IC was recognized by the court as sufficient for the court to pass a sentence in absentia to the commander of the airborne assault company of the linear marine battalion of the 36th separate rocket artillery battalion of the marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (ABrMP AFU) Viktor Pyatka… The court sentenced Pyatka in absentia punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 25 years to be served in a maximum security colony. He is put on the international wanted list,” the message says.
He was found guilty under articles of cruelty to the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict, and attempted murder of two or more persons, committed by a group of persons in a generally dangerous manner motivated by hatred and enmity.
It was established that in March 2022 in Mariupol on Slavyanskaya Street near house 54, a Ukrainian marine, on the orders of Pyatka, shot at a man with an American-made sniper rifle. It is emphasized that the civilian died on the spot from his wounds.
«At the same time, they acted in accordance with the criminal plan of persons from among the top military and political leadership of Ukraine to forcibly retain power in the territory of Mariupol of the Donetsk People's Republic controlled by the Kyiv regime and to preserve combat positions from the advancing troops of the DPR and the Russian Federation,» — emphasized in the UK.
It is noted that the criminal case against the serviceman who carried out Pyatka’s order is being considered in court.
