MOSCOW, July 9 The Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow extended the house arrest of Ilya Elagin and Tamerlan Kadzaev, surgeons of Timur Khaidarov’s IQ Plastique clinic, in the case of the death of a patient after surgery , the press service of the court reported.
“The court granted the investigator’s request and extended the accused’s period of detention under house arrest by 1 month 14 days, that is, until August 28, 2024, maintaining the previously established prohibitions,” the agency’s interlocutor said. 
According to the investigation, Elagin operated on a subsequently deceased patient, and Kadzaev assisted him. Both were charged with providing unsafe services.
According to the investigation, the surgeons did not want tragic consequences to occur, but “were indifferent to the patient when providing medical care” and “wanted to reduce the amount of work,” as a result of which the patient died. Later, changes were made to the medical record to cover up evidence of poor quality and unsafe medical care.
Elagin denies guilt, believing that the patient may not have followed the doctors’ orders.
In February, a patient was operated on at the IQ Plastique plastic surgery clinic in northern Moscow. The day after discharge, the 36-year-old man felt unwell and returned to the clinic, where he underwent repeated surgery. However, the patient's condition worsened again and he was hospitalized in another hospital, where he fell into a coma and then died. A criminal case was opened for providing unsafe services.
Previously, at the request of Roszdravnadzor, the Arbitration Court suspended the clinic’s activities for 90 days. In mid-April, investigators questioned plastic surgeon Timur Khaidarov as part of a criminal investigation into the death of a patient after surgery at IQ Plastique.
