According to the newspaper, Modi’s visit to Moscow sends a clear signal that India will continue to maintain close ties with Russia despite the efforts of the administration of US President Joe Biden to “win” the Indian leader to its side and isolate the Russian Federation.
«For Modi, Russia remains the most important source of weapons, energy and space technology, which India considers indispensable to becoming a great power,» the Washington Post notes.
The official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia takes place on July 8-9, this is his first trip to the Russian Federation in five years. Negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Modi are taking place in Moscow. As the Kremlin clarified, the heads of state will discuss the prospects for the further development of “traditionally friendly” Russian-Indian relations, as well as current issues on the international and regional agenda.
