Budget crossover Hyundai Exter celebrated a year on the market with a special Knight version

The new version was distinguished by black and red decor. The motor has moved from the standard model, you can choose a manual or robotic gearbox.

The compact Hyundai Exter SUV launched in India in July last year: only there the model is produced, and only there it is currently sold. Indians generally liked the five-door car. Thus, according to the local division of the brand, more than 93,000 crossovers have been sold since the launch. Hyundai decided to celebrate the year of Exter’s presence on the market with a “black” special version called Knight (translated as “knight”). By the way, the pre-restyling Indian Hyundai Creta of the second generation had a similar design (in 2024, “their” Creta underwent a radical restyling), plus the “knightly” package is now available for the Hyundai Venue crossover.

Let us remind you that the Exter is built on the basis of the Indian hatchback Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, while the cross still has its own body and exterior design. The length of the SUV is 3815 mm, the distance between the axles is 2450 mm. External features of the Hyundai Exter Knight Edition are black protective plates on the bumpers (they are silver on the standard model), black 15-inch wheels and darkened emblems and nameplates. There are red decorative stripes at the front and rear, and the front brake calipers are in the same color. The body itself can be not only black, but also white, dark blue, gray or green (in the latter two cases, a black roof can be ordered as an option). Finally, the Knight logo was attached to the tailgate.

The interior of the special version features black upholstery and red accents. The special SUV is offered in two trim levels. The list of standard equipment includes a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, climate control, rear view camera, cruise control, and an electric sunroof. A more expensive option is a standard video recorder with a dual camera (the second is directed into the cabin), red illumination for the footwells, wireless charging for a smartphone and a cooled glove box.

The engine was switched from the regular Hyundai Exter: it is a 1.2 naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol with a power of 83 hp. You can choose an SUV with a five-speed manual transmission or a simple robotic gearbox. In any case, the drive is only front-wheel drive.

The price of the Hyundai Exter Knight starts at 838,200 rupees, which is equivalent to approximately 882,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. A standard crossover now costs from 612,800 rupees (about 645,000 rubles).

The next country where Exter will appear should be South Africa. Subsequently, the sales geography will be expanded.
