The brother of a resident of Bashkortostan who hanged himself confirmed that he was beaten before his death, demanding to testify in the “Baymak case”

The brother of 65-year-old resident of the Bashkortostan city of Meleuz Miniyar Bayguskarov, Salavat Bayguskarov, in a conversation with Mediazona, confirmed that shortly before his death, security forces beat him, demanding to testify in the “Baymak case.”

Information about the death of Miniyar Bayguskarov appeared on February 15 in mutual aid chats created by relatives of the detainees. On the same day, two sources of the Aspects publication said that the man left a suicide note, the contents of which remained unknown. The next day, the same publication, citing an unnamed relative of Baiguskarov, reported that the pensioner was allegedly “brought up” during a conversation with the police. After this, at night he visited his father’s house in his native village, and upon returning to Meleuz at dawn he committed suicide.

In a conversation with Mediazona, Salavat Bayguskarov confirmed that his brother Miniyar committed suicide due to pressure from the security forces. “They beat him, beat him, beat him, took him to Ufa. This is so far the only person involved in the case of protests in Baymak, who is charged with Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of life-threatening violence against a government official). The cases of several other defendants have also been transferred from Bashkortostan to the courts of other regions — they will be tried in Tolyatti and Izhevsk.
