In St. Petersburg, a university graduate student who broke the windows of a military registration and enlistment office and left anti-war inscriptions on it was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

The Vyborg District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced Vladimir Mironov, a graduate student of Alferov University, to 4 years of general security, who in February 2023 broke the glass in the windows of the military registration and enlistment office of the Vyborg region and painted anti-war inscriptions on its walls. He was found guilty under articles of hooliganism (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code) and repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 2 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

The message says that on February 26 last year, Mironov came to the commissariat and “motivated by political, ideological hatred and enmity, as well as hatred towards military personnel” of Russia and Because of his opposition to the war in Ukraine, he broke the glass of two windows with a wrench. Thus, he “created noise and caused property damage in the amount of 25,000 rubles.”

Afterwards, Mironov painted “inscriptions expressing an opinion about the SVO” on the facade of the military registration and enlistment office building — and thereby caused damage in the amount of 6,600 rubles.

After the man’s arrest, which became known on February 27, 2023, Fontanka and Baza wrote that he wrote the phrases “No to war”, “Stop killing” and “How much can you kill” in “half-meter letters” .

The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. The press service reported that Mironov partially admitted his guilt and compensated for the damage caused.

Before the criminal case, Mironov was fined under the article on “discrediting” the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine (Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). The protocol of a man with the same name was considered by the Kuibyshevsky District Court in January 2023. The decision was appealed, and at the time of the man’s arrest it had not yet come into force — without this it is impossible to initiate a similar criminal case.
