MOSCOW, July 11 The investigation requests that Sergei Moiseev, the alleged accomplice of the ex-commander of the 58th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, Ivan Popov, accused of embezzlement, be transferred under house arrest, stated in the materials of the 235th garrison military court.
“A petition has been registered to select a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against Sergei Vladimirovich Moiseev,” the case file says.
Moiseev was arrested on the same day as Popov.
According to the investigation, the general was involved in the theft in 2023 of more than 1,700 tons of rolled metal products purchased by the military-civil administration of the Zaporozhye region as part of the provision of humanitarian aid. These materials, worth over 100 million rubles, were intended for the equipment of engineering defensive structures on the line of combat contact. At the same time, the Investigative Committee believes that General Popov received just over a million rubles for his “services.”< br />
