MOSCOW, July 12, Andrey Simonenko. Interest in holding tournaments Olympic champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene is being shown in Dubai and Doha, said competition director Mikhail Butov.
On Friday, Lasitskene announced a series of tournaments «New Heights», in which 12 of the strongest high jumpers, including herself, will compete. This season there will be two tournaments — on August 3 in Moscow, August 31 in Prokhladny (Kabardino-Balkaria), the homeland of the Olympic champion.
““Next year we plan to expand the geography of the series and want to bring tournaments to places where our sport has not been represented for a long time,” said Butov, quoted by the organizers. “Everyone will benefit from this: and the athletes who We need new emotions, and athletics itself. We have already visited Nizhny Novgorod, looked at interesting locations there, we are negotiating with other Russian cities. I will say more, they have expressed interest in our competitions abroad — in Dubai and Doha.»
Tournament winners will receive 300 thousand rubles. “It is also important that absolutely all of our participants will receive prize money, and their level depends on the final position. Plus, we have various bonuses, which we will announce additionally, so as not to lay all the cards on the table at once,” Butov emphasized.
«The main task is to become closer to the fans, and for this we need to go beyond the stadiums and beyond the framework of purely sports competitions. Therefore, we will have autograph sessions, communication with young athletes, fashion shows, special photo zones, live music, DJ and much more,” concluded the competition director.
