ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 14 More than 220 people and almost 50 pieces of equipment are already involved in extinguishing a forest fire near the village of Dyurso near Novorossiysk, a representative of the Southern Federal District Forestry Department reported.
On Sunday, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that a forest and grass area of three hectares caught fire in the area of the Dyurso farm. The fire spread to the territory of the Golubaya Volna recreation center. It was later completely extinguished. At the same time, the forest continued to burn on 10 hectares, and later the fire spread to an area of 28 hectares. Ka-32 and Mi-8 helicopters were sent to the fire site.
«A total of 222 people and 48 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the forest fire,» the agency's source said.
He added that additional equipment continues to arrive. The Ka-32 helicopter has already dropped water several times.
The department representative added that extinguishing the fire is complicated by the lack of access for equipment and the inaccessibility of the extinguishing site due to the difficult mountainous terrain.
