The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus reported the detention in the Pinsk region of citizens with “neo-Nazi views” who, according to the police, “under the pretext of holding a concert” were planning “illegal mass event.»
In a statement, the department said that with the force support of riot police, «56 people from Minsk, Grodno, Vitebsk, Brest, Pinsk and Luninets were identified,» and among them were «involved in extremist activities» — “to mass unrest in 2020” (mass protests in Minsk after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections and the announcement of Alexander Lukashenko elected for another term).
“As well as relatives of participants in the fighting in Ukraine,” they said Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the statement, 11 detainees were brought to administrative responsibility on charges of distributing extremist materials, and the concert organizers were charged with violating the rules for holding mass events.
