MOSCOW, July 13 US Senator Bernie Sanders expressed his support US President Joe Biden in the election race and called on Democrats to stop bickering and finding fault with the head of the White House, while admitting that he is old, prone to reservations and, in general, “an imperfect candidate.”
«Yes, I know: Biden is old, prone to reservations, walks stiffly and had a terrible debate with Trump. But I also know that a presidential election is not an entertaining competition. It does not begin and end with a 90-minute debate. Enough! Biden may not be a perfect candidate, but he will be a candidate, and he should be a candidate… It's time for Democrats to stop bickering and quibbling,” he wrote in an opinion piece for the New York Times.
Sanders noted that he does not agree with a number of Biden's political decisions, however, according to him, the president's supporters can proudly talk about his real achievements and they do not need to justify their candidate, as supporters of Biden's rival in the presidential race — the Republican and ex-president — are forced to USA Donald Trump. The senator listed Biden's «record,» noting that Biden must win the election for the sake of Americans' «children and future generations.»
The American media agree that Biden performed poorly at the first debate with Trump, which took place on the night of June 28 in Atlanta. According to some reports, he may be nominated as a presidential candidate as early as July 21, without waiting for the party congress in August.
The second debate between Biden and Trump is scheduled for September 10.
