General Popov was met after the trial by four men wearing T-shirts with his photo and call sign
The former commander of the 58th Army, Major General Ivan Popov, accused in a fraud case, after his release from under arrest was greeted by supporters. As RBC reports, the general was met near the courthouse by several men wearing T-shirts with his portrait.
Also on the T-shirts of the general’s friends his call sign was indicated — “Spartak” and the phrase “I have the honor.”
On Monday, the 235th Garrison Military Court transferred Popov from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest until October 11.
The investigation believes that Popov was involved in the theft of over 130 million rubles during the purchase of metal structures for the subsequent construction of defensive structures in the Zaporozhye region.
