CAIRO, July 14 The ruling Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) in northern Yemen said it attacked an Israeli ship in the Gulf of Aden with ballistic missiles and drones.
“»Navy forces, drone and missile units of the Yemeni armed forces (Houthis — ed.) carried out a joint operation, during which the Israeli vessel MSC UNIFIC was attacked with the help of ballistic missiles and drones in the Gulf of Aden,» — said a statement by the representative of the Houthi armed forces, Yahya Saria.
He also reported that the Houthis had used drones to attack a number of Israeli military targets in the Eilat area in southern Israel.
The ruling Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement in northern Yemen, which controls most of Yemen's Red Sea coast, previously announced its support for Palestine and its intention to attack any ships associated with Israel, calling on other countries to withdraw them with their own crews and do not approach them at sea. At the same time, they stated that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not interfere with ships of other countries. Amid the attacks, some companies decided to suspend transportation through the Red Sea.
