MOSCOW, July 14 The wife of the British Crown Prince Kate Middleton received participation in the award ceremony for the finalists of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
On Sunday, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz beat Serb Novak Djokovic for the second time in a row (6:2, 6:2, 7:6 (7:4)) in the Wimbledon final and won the fourth Grand Slam tournament of his career. Both tennis players, as well as the match referees, received their awards from Middleton, for whom this was the second public appearance since she announced her illness in March.
Kensington Palace announced on January 17 that Middleton had undergone elective abdominal surgery. The reasons for the surgical intervention were not specified; the text specified that the princess wished for her “personal medical information to remain confidential.”
Later, on March 22, Middleton announced that as a result of the operation she was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. The princess noted that she was fine and getting better every day. She also asked the public to give her family time and privacy.
The Daily Mail, citing sources, reported that the princess had to make information about cancer public due to the threat of information leakage. According to the publication, the source of the possible leak is unknown, but a decision was made to “be proactive.”
