MOSCOW, July 16 Nomination of Republican Senator J.D. Vance in US vice presidents will be a nightmare for Vladimir Zelensky, said British journalist and presenter John Sopel on the social network X.
“
"What a nightmare for Zelensky because of Donald Trump’s choice of his vice presidential candidate. «J.D. Vance is even more hostile to sending taxpayer dollars to Ukraine than Trump,» Sopel wrote.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump announced at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday that he has offered state senator Ohio Vance will take over as vice president if he wins the November election. A little later, the Republican Party convention nominated Vance for this post.
Vance is 39 years old, married, with three children. He is a graduate of the prestigious Yale Law School, and worked in investment funds in conjunction with the famous Republican donor and billionaire Peter Thiel. He became a senator in January 2023.
Vance is also known for speaking out extensively on the conflict in Ukraine, criticizing multibillion-dollar US military aid to that country and calling for negotiations with Russia. He said that Kiev’s declared goal of restoring the 1991 borders is unrealistic, and a settlement requires consolidating Ukrainian neutrality and freezing territorial disputes.
