MOSCOW, July 16 AvtoVAZ maintains the plan to launch production of Lada Aura cars in early September, intends to produce up to 3 thousand of them this year, the official said company representative Sergei Ilyinsky.
«As previously planned, production of the car will start in early September,» Ilyinsky said, answering a question about the Lada Aura. The new product will be put on the conveyor belt of the main plant in Tolyatti.
«The production volume by the end of the year will be up to 3 thousand cars,» he noted, clarifying that this figure also includes models of a more simplified configuration for taxis.
«The rate of production of Lada Aura in 2025 will be 2.5 cars per hour. The company is ready to increase this rate to 5 cars per hour if the legislation on public procurement is fine-tuned with maximum prioritization of localized products, as well as the adoption of the law on taxis in the original version, which assumes the possibility of establishing the level of localization of taxis in individual segments by decision of the regions,» Ilyinsky added.
The Lada Aura model is created on the Lada Vesta platform. The new premium class product is distinguished by an increased interior space for rear row passengers by 25 centimeters; its interior is made of Russian-made genuine leather. The car is equipped with a 1.8 liter engine producing 122 horsepower and an automatic transmission.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the opening of the northern bypass section of the Tver M-11 Neva highway driving a black Lada Aura. After the trip, he shared his impressions of it, noting that it was a “good car.”
AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Togliatti and Izhevsk. In mid-May 2022, the French Renault transferred its share in AvtoVAZ (67.69%) to the state ownership of the Russian Federation. Now the brand consists of four families of models: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva. Sales of Lada cars last year amounted to 352.6 thousand units (an increase of almost 2 times in annual terms).
