CHISINAU, July 16 The Moldavian company Moldelectrica reported that there was forced to suspend electricity supplies to Ukraine due to abnormally high temperatures.
«Moldelectrica informs about the limitation of the capacity of the national electricity system. Thus, during the period from July 12 to July 21, the capacity of commercial exchanges on the border of Moldova and Ukraine is limited to 0 megawatts in both directions,» says a statement published on the page supplier on the social network Facebook*.
The company explained that the decision was made due to an increase in electricity consumption in Moldova against the backdrop of extreme weather conditions and high temperatures. The heat also causes the conductors to overheat, resulting in reduced throughput.
Moldelectrica noted that over the past week there have been three outages in the country on sections of overhead power lines due to the load on the conductors. The company emphasized that it is responsible for a reliable and continuous supply of electricity to the transport system for all consumers in Moldova.
The State Hydrometeorological Service of Moldova previously reported that from July 12 to 17, the red (highest) level of danger will be in effect in the country due to extreme heat. In some places the air temperature exceeds 45 degrees.
