The Geely compact SUV on the BMA platform has been in service since 2018. In China it goes by the name Binyue, in other countries, including Russia, the model is known as Coolray. The five-door has already gone through several restylings, and two modifications were simultaneously presented at home. Thus, the most prestigious crossover with the most extensive modifications is called Binyue Cool (they also sell this Coolray in the Russian Federation). And the cheaper version is “just” Binyue, in its homeland it was refreshed last year (this crossover never made it to Russia, but we have the original Coolray from 2018, but as the Belgee X50). So, a month ago, Gili announced an even simpler Super Edition, based on Binyue without a prefix. Now in the Middle Kingdom they have held a full-fledged presentation and launched sales. The new version did not become a replacement — it complemented the range. Although it is possible that subsequently Binyue Super will nevertheless displace “just” Binyue from the line.

So, the new version was distinguished by its exterior design. The SUV received its own radiator grille — with horizontal black “strokes” instead of vertical bars. In addition, a chrome strip appeared on top. In principle, exposed exhaust pipes are not provided for the Geely Binyue Super Edition. In the cabin, the central tunnel was redone.

The main technical update is a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine with a power of 126 hp. (152 Nm). The engine is combined with a five-speed manual or CVT. “Simply” Geely Binyue is available today with turbo engines 1.4 (141 hp, 235 Nm) and 1.5 (181 hp, 290 Nm), the first is paired with a 6MT, the second has a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The “prestigious” Binyue Cool is equipped exclusively with a 181-horsepower 1.5T and 7DCT. In any case, the drive is only front-wheel drive.

Geely Binyue Super Edition is offered in only two trim levels. The list of equipment for the basic SUV includes: 16-inch wheels (the cheapest “simply” Binyue has 17-inch wheels, Binyue Cool has 18-inch wheels), “leather” upholstery, a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, analog instruments, regular air conditioning, rear view camera, a pair of airbags and cruise control. The more expensive version has 17-inch wheels, a leather steering wheel, ESC, an ascent/descent assistance system.

Note that for the Geely Binyue without consoles, multimedia with a 12.3-inch tablet, virtual tidy, climate control, all-round cameras and an electric sunroof are provided. Well, the rich versions of the Geely Binyue Cool also include a panoramic roof, wireless charging for a smartphone, side airbags and curtain airbags, adaptive cruise, auto braking systems, lane keeping and blind spot monitoring.

For the Geely Binyue Super Edition with manual transmission they ask for 66,800 yuan (about 814,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), an SUV with a CVT costs 73,800 yuan (899,000 rubles). The price of “just” Binyue starts at 75,800 yuan (923,000 rubles), Binyue Cool will cost at least 99,800 yuan (1,215,000 rubles).
