WASHINGTON, July 15 US authorities have strengthened security for current and former US presidents following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Monday.
“The Secret Service has increased security for former President Trump based on the evolving nature of threats… and the expected transition from presumptive to official candidate status,” he said at a briefing at the White House.
Mayorkas clarified that we are talking about both expanding the security personnel and strengthening it with technical means.
He also said that after the Saturday assassination attempt on Trump, changes were made adjustments to how current head of state Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and all their predecessors are protected.
