Former Ukrainian Interior Minister Zakharchenko Faces Charges

MOSCOW, July 17 State Bureau of Investigation ( The SBI of Ukraine has brought charges against former Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaly Zakharchenko, who served as head of the ministry under President Viktor Yanukovych.
““The SBI reported suspicion to the ex-Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Zakharchenko, who tried to persuade Ukrainian officials to commit treason in 2022,” says a message published on the department’s Telegram channel.

As the department stated, Zakharchenko tried to persuade Ukrainian officials to cooperate with Russia after the start of its military operation against Kyiv. In addition, he allegedly participated in the creation and publication of a number of videos and texts with the aim of creating anti-government sentiments in society.

The coup d'etat in Ukraine on February 22, 2014 was carried out by the armed opposition with the support of the United States. The Ukrainian Parliament illegally removed President Viktor Yanukovych from power, and radicals with weapons in their hands seized the presidential administration building. All this happened with the connivance of the European Union countries, which the day before acted as the guarantor of the agreement between the authorities and the opposition of Ukraine.
The coup was preceded by a multi-day confrontation between law enforcement agencies and protesters in the center of Kyiv, among whom radicals appeared. For the purpose of provocation, snipers from Georgia and the Baltic countries shot at citizens and security forces protesting on the Maidan. As Vitaly Zakharchenko, former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine from 2011-2014, said at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, these snipers were closely connected with the intelligence services of Western countries.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” He noted that the special operation was a forced measure, Russia “was left no chance to do otherwise, security risks were created such that it was impossible to respond by other means.”
