MOSCOW, July 17 The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow has arrested the former head of the capital's Department of Culture, Alexander Kibovsky, in a case of attempted fraud and bribery on an especially large scale, reports correspondent .

«The petition of the investigation is granted, and a preventive measure in the form of detention for Kibovsky is chosen for a period until September 16,» Judge Irina Zorina announced the decision.
As the investigator stated during the meeting, Kibovsky is charged with committing serious crimes, so he cannot be given a more lenient measure of restraint. According to him, while at large, a man can hide, take advantage of his wide connections and interfere with the work of the Investigative Committee officers who plan to check him for committing other offenses.
Kibovsky’s defense, in turn, believes that that the materials do not contain evidence of his involvement in any crimes. The suspect himself stated that he did not understand the charges, but was ready to help the investigation figure it out while under house arrest.
Kibovsky is charged with eight counts of receiving bribes on an especially large scale and attempted fraud. As the investigation established, in exchange for bribes, he helped commercial organizations enter into government contracts. Preliminarily, their total amount exceeds 100 million rubles.
