MOSCOW, July 17The Russian National Guard has proposed granting deputy governors of the Bank of Russia the right to carry military weapons, as follows from the draft government resolution developed by the department. The Central Bank reported that this initiative was discussed with the department as part of a set of issues related to ensuring the security of facilities and employees in new regions of the country.
Now among the Central Bank employees who can carry military weapons are workers from the security sector, the Central Vault of the Bank of Russia and Rosinkas. Now it is proposed to grant this right to also the deputy chairmen of the Central Bank, their advisers, as well as directors of departments and their deputies.
Among the weapons that can be used by all Central Bank employees are a Makarov pistol, a Yarygin pistol, several types of Glock pistols, various modifications of Kalashnikov assault rifles, as well as Kedr, Vityaz and Cypress submachine guns. At the same time, the regulator's management will be given the right to carry only pistols and submachine guns.
In the explanatory note to the project, this proposal is explained by “the need to strengthen the protection and security of infrastructure facilities of the Russian Federation.”
Now the Central Bank has three first deputy chairmen — Olga Skorobogatova, Dmitry Tulin and Vladimir Chistyukhin, as well as eight ordinary deputy chairmen — Sergei Belov, Philip Gabunia, Alexey Guznov, Alexey Zabotkin, German Zubarev, Andrey Kruzhalov, Valery Kazarin, Olga Polyakova. And there are several dozen directors of departments in the Central Bank.
«The Law «On Weapons» has already granted the Bank of Russia the right to receive certain models of small arms for temporary use. The draft resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation clarifies the list of positions established by law. This initiative was discussed with the National Guard in within the framework of a set of issues related to ensuring the protection of Bank of Russia facilities and employees in new regions of the Russian Federation,” the regulator told reporters.
