The United States will deploy new electronic warfare systems on its territory, media write.

MOSCOW, July 19By the end of the year, the United States will deploy new ground-based electronic warfare systems on its territory to suppress Russian and Chinese satellites in the event of a potential conflict, Bloomberg reports.
““The United States will deploy new ground-based electronic warfare systems to prevent Chinese and Russian satellites from transmitting information about American troops,” the agency writes.

The US Space Force told the agency that the system was already tested earlier this year and is aimed not at protecting American satellites from Russian and Chinese electronic warfare, but at countering the communications satellite capabilities of Moscow and Beijing. In this case, the system will not destroy enemy vehicles, but will only disable them, so as not to pollute the Earth’s orbit with space debris. The US Space Force noted that by the end of this year, 24 electronic warfare systems will be deployed in the country, and 11 of them will be deployed in the coming months.

At the beginning of 2024, American media, citing their sources, reported that US legislators could have been told at a secret briefing about Russia’s alleged plans to “place nuclear weapons in space” for use against satellites. The White House then confirmed that the threat to national security that was discussed in Congress concerns anti-satellite weapons allegedly being developed by the Russian Federation. US President Joe Biden demanded diplomatic contacts with Moscow, but the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that contact on this issue was unproductive due to the absurdity of the American accusations.

Moscow has previously repeatedly pointed out that Russia, together with other countries, in particular China, stands for preventing an arms race in space and preserving it for peaceful purposes. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted earlier that the United States and its allies are taking steps to implement the installation of weapons in space and the use of outer space for combat operations not only for defensive purposes. They also do not stop trying to position space as a new arena of rivalry and conflict between states; Russia and China are identified as the main opponents.
In May of this year, Russia proposed a draft UN Security Council resolution on countries’ reaffirmation of the obligation not to use space to deploy weapons and to prevent the use of force in space, from space towards the Earth and from Earth in relation to objects in outer space. The document did not receive the necessary votes and was not adopted; the resolution was opposed by the United States, France, Britain, Japan, Slovenia, the Republic of Korea and Malta.
Space News reported on May 23 that the US Space Force has commissioned six private companies to develop a test site concept for simulating “military scenarios” in space.
