MILWAUKEE (USA), July 19 Former US President Donald Trump said that during the assassination attempt, despite the shots and blood, he felt safe because “God was on his side.”
«There was blood pouring all over (my face — ed.), and yet in some sense I felt completely safe because God was on my side,» Trump said at the Republican National Convention.
Trump noted that as soon as he heard a “loud whistling sound” and felt something hit him in the ear, he immediately realized: “it could only be a bullet.”
«I immediately realized we were under attack and threw myself to the ground in one motion. The bullets continued to whistle as very brave Secret Service agents rushed onto the scene,» he added.
Last Saturday, July 13, there was a shooting at Trump's campaign speech in Pennsylvania, the ex-president was wounded in the ear, one of the spectators was killed, and two others were critically injured. The US Secret Service said it had killed a suspect who fired several shots towards the stage. He was reported to be hiding on the roof of a production building about 100 meters from the stage, outside the event area.
The FBI is investigating the incident as «an assassination attempt and possible domestic terrorism.» According to the FBI, the suspect is 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
