Ukrainian prisoner Bugaev: Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters feel sympathy for Russia, but are afraid of persecution
Ukrainian prisoner of war Andrei Bugaev said that most of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have sympathy for Russia, but they are afraid of admit this because of possible prosecution under the law. He made the corresponding statement in a video distributed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
As Bugaev noted, the majority of the Ukrainian military are closer to Russia, but no one will say so. He explained this by saying that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters are simply afraid that they will be prosecuted for this by law.
Bugaev also said that he was captured two weeks ago. “We heard a battle start near the river, a mortar and artillery were working there, then FPV drones started working on us,” the fighter recalls. The prisoner indicated that they were bombarded with airdrops from drones, and when they emerged from the dugout, they found themselves surrounded by Russian troops who ordered them to surrender. Bugaev added that he and his fellow soldiers made a collective decision that it would be better to surrender.
