Klitschko: any step by Zelensky threatens political suicide

Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, expressed the opinion that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky may have to hold a referendum in order to come to “painful and important agreements.” According to Klitschko, Zelensky will not be able to make such decisions on his own; he will need legitimation from the people.
Klitschko also noted that no matter what step Zelensky takes, he “risks committing political suicide.” According to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, it would be a nightmare if “we had to fight for another two years.”
In addition, he advocated the creation of a government of national unity in Ukraine modeled on Israel, but expressed doubt that Zelensky would give up part of his power, which he concentrated in his office after the introduction of martial law.
