The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the editor-in-chief of Skat Media and the former head of Alexei Navalny's headquarters in Krasnodar, Lev Gyammer, in the case of organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). As Mediazona learned, the decision was made in mid-July.
Gammer has been wanted since June last year. The activist left Russia in the fall of 2021 and now lives in Poland. In addition to the article on extremism, he is also charged with spreading “fakes” about the army (points “b” and “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), calls for anti-state activities (Part 3 of Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code) and disrespect for the days of military glory (Part 4 of the Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code).
According to the security forces, Gämmer published information on the number of Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine on the social networks of the “Spring” movement, as well as appeals to the military calling on them to refuse to participate in the invasion of the neighboring country. In addition, according to investigators, he criticized on social networks the methods of celebrating May 9, encouraged by the state.
The same Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the coordinator of the “Spring” movement, Gleb Kondratyev, in a similar case of extremism. Mediazona also learned about this. He is accused under the same articles as Gammer. The activist has been wanted for a year and lives outside of Russia.
In December 2022, the St. Petersburg City Court recognized the “Spring” movement as an extremist organization. In June of this year, a criminal case was filed against six Viasna activists; they are accused of six counts.
