The new SUV of the French brand should make its full premiere next week. It is expected that the model will be offered with equipment from the related budget C3 Aircross.
The Citroen Basalt coupe crossover with the “surname” Vision appeared as a concept in March of this year. This show car, we recall, foreshadowed the third model of the C-Cubed project, conceived specifically for poor markets: the “coupe” will join the C3 hatchback and the C3 Aircross crossover (not to be confused with the models of the same name for Europe), which are already being produced in India and Brazil . Now the serial Basalt cross-coupe has been revealed — teasers were published by the Indian division of the brand. Moreover, for the first time we were shown the interior of a five-door car. But first, let's go over the appearance of the model.

As expected, the commercial Citroen Basalt retained the appearance of its harbinger. From the front, the “coupe” almost literally repeated the Citroen C3 Aircross cross-platform SUV, the only difference is in the decor. Well, in India LED headlights are also announced for Basalt. The stern, of course, is original: the coupe-shaped crossover received its own tailgate, lights and bumper. The dimensions have not yet been announced. Most likely, in its dimensions, the Citroen Basalt is close to its sister C3 Aircross. The length of the latter (in Indian specification) is 4323 mm, the wheelbase is 2671 mm.

The interior of the Basalt is also designed in the same vein as the Citroen C3 Aircross. Inside, they installed a digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a large tablet that rises above the front panel. At the same time, the cross-coupe is richer. For example, it has climate control with a push-button remote control instead of the usual air conditioning with “twists”, plus there is a box armrest between the front seats, whereas the C3 Aircross has an armrest attached to the driver’s seat.

The Citroen Basalt equipment was probably shared with his brother. In India, this is a 1.2 petrol turbo engine with a power of 110 hp, which is paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. And in Brazil, the coupe will be offered with a three-cylinder 1.0 turbo engine from Fiat, which traditionally for this country runs on both gasoline (125 hp) and ethanol (130 hp), where the model will have a CVT. All cars in the C-Cubed family have exclusively front-wheel drive.

A full presentation of the Indian Basalt should be held on August 2. The Brazilian SUV may be shown a little later. By the way, in India the main competitor of the Citroen Basalt will be the Tata Curvv coupe crossover.
