
BLAGOVESCHENSK, July 22A criminal case has been opened in Blagoveshchensk over the disappearance of a man and two children while swimming in the Zeya River, one of whom was found dead, the Investigative Committee of the Amur Region reports.
According to the department, on Sunday afternoon, a resident of the regional center, along with his 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old nephew, were swimming in the Zeya River near the old automobile bridge, after which they went missing. The boy's body was found in the river near the village of Zazeisky at about 6 p.m. (12:00 Moscow time) with signs of drowning. 
“In Blagoveshchensk, following the unknown disappearance of a man and his daughter while swimming, as well as the discovery of the body of an 8-year-old boy with signs of drowning, a criminal case has been opened on the grounds of the crime of “causing death by negligence of two or more persons,” the report says.
A group of investigators examined the scene, witnesses are being questioned, and the search for the missing is underway. The regional emergency department headquarters noted that the place was not equipped for swimming. The child’s body was taken to the morgue for a forensic examination.
