MOSCOW, July 21 Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin got acquainted with the construction of a new air terminal complex at Magadan Airport, which is planned to be put into operation in December 2024.
«It all starts from the gate, from the air harbor. By order of the President, we are modernizing 75 airports by 2030 — they should be a reliable support for people who travel and return to their loved ones. It should be comfortable, convenient,» — he noted.
In general, Mishustin praised the new terminal, noting that it was made “wisely.” The Prime Minister especially drew attention to the fact that the design was made by Russian specialists. At the same time, he chided the project managers for not taking care of the access road. “At least look at the road — when they leave the airport — through the eyes of tourists. We just came here now — there are just old barrels that need to be removed and put in order. Moreover, (Governor of the Magadan Region) Sergei Konstantinovich (Nosov) and I are in Nagaevskaya Bay started working on the “General Cleaning” program,” explained the Prime Minister, calling on people to pay attention to such nuances.
About the terminal The capacity of the new terminal will be 800 passengers per hour, while the existing one is capable of serving only 600. The new complex will solve one of the long-standing problems — there will be an updated baggage claim system. Now passengers are served in rather cramped quarters dating back to the 1980s.
The authorities are also improving the surrounding area. There is a large number of parking spaces near the terminal. The environment is adapted to the needs of passengers with limited mobility.
The platform will be equipped with two telescopic gangways, which is necessary in the local harsh climate. The second floor will house retail outlets and passenger rest areas. There are also areas for mothers with children.
As part of a new national project, it is planned to begin the reconstruction of the runway at Magadan Airport. This is supposed to be done within the framework of a public-private partnership. Preparation of design and estimate documentation has already begun.
They intend to begin the reconstruction itself in 2025-2026. This must be done in such a way as not to pause air traffic.
