The magistrate of court district No. 1 of the Nalchik judicial district of Kabardino-Balkaria fined three thousand rubles to the parents of students of local school No. 33 who did not get up from their chairs during the performance of the Russian anthem. The press service of the republic's courts reported this to TASS.
According to information from the court’s website, the decision was made by Judge Robert Zhurtov. Parents of schoolchildren — eight in total — were tried under an administrative article for violating the procedure for the official use of state symbols (Article 17.10 of the Administrative Code). Zhurtov considered each case for ten minutes.
In early July, State Duma deputy from United Russia Andrei Kartapolov published two videos on his Telegram channel from an event in the assembly hall of Nalchik school No. 33. They show several people sitting to the sounds of the Russian anthem. The deputy wrote that he sent a request “to the relevant authorities” because he believes that this is “a fact of demonstrative disrespect in the national anthem.”
The next day, the Mash Gor telegram channel reported that the parents of ninth-graders who did not stand up during the anthem at graduation, they drew up protocols “for violating the official use of the anthem.” Later, Kartapolov reposted this information and wrote: “They responded promptly to our appeals, thank you.”
The authors of Mash Gor claimed that among those who sat during the anthem were the head of a department of the energy company RusHydro and the wife of the head coach of the Russian judo team.
