Media reports on the consequences of dark plasma flares on the Sun

MOSCOW, July 23 Dark plasma eruptions, also called “cold” solar flares, have a 60 percent chance of causing radio communications blackouts on Earth this week, the Daily Mail reported, citing data from the National US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“The outbreak could disrupt radio, aviation and satellite communications if it occurs by at least Friday,” the newspaper writes.

According to NOAA data cited in the publication, the probability of radio communications blackouts on Earth due to flares is 60 percent.

So-called “cold” solar flares with a lower temperature than “warm” ones have become the subject of serious study by astrophysicists only in the last decade. They appear to have at least as much microwave radiation as «warm» solar flares, and also produce higher peak frequencies of gyrosynchrotron radiation, the exact form of radiation responsible for the flare's intense and destructive radio emission.
