MOSCOW, July 22 Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Gagarin to the leading research institute of Roscosmos, TsNIIMash, according to a decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
«For their great contribution to the development of the rocket and space industry and strengthening the country's defense capability, the staff of the joint-stock company «Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering», Moscow Region, will be awarded the Order of Gagarin,» the document says.
The first female cosmonaut on the planet, State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova, was awarded the Order of Gagarin. After her, the order was received by cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, the staff of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CTC), and the only currently living cosmonaut from the first (Gagarin) recruitment, Boris Volynov.
In addition, the order was received by Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Sergei Prokopyev, as well as the first Belarusian female cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya.
