MAKHACHKALA, July 23 Police Colonel Akhmed Kuliev, acting the head of the Dagestan Derbent, was elected mayor of the city, the press service of the city administration reported.
““At a session of the meeting of deputies of Derbent, Akhmed Kuliev was elected head of Derbent,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
According to him, the deputies supported Kuliyev's candidacy unanimously.
In early June, the mayor of Derbent, Rustambek Pirmagomedov, who had headed the city since December 2020, announced his decision to resign. Police Colonel Akhmed Kuliev became the acting head of the city.
Over the years, Kuliev headed the department for combating economic crimes and the department for combating organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan (RD), the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, and was deputy chief of police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan.
