As expected, in terms of design, the commercial SUV repeated its harbinger almost word for word. The engine range will likely vary depending on the market.
The premiere of the conceptual cross-coupe Citroen Basalt Vision took place in March this year. Moreover, then they showed two options at once — for India and South America. Apparently, the Indians will be the first to receive the production version: a few days ago, the local division of the brand distributed teasers of the commercial five-door, and now full-fledged branded images have appeared. At the same time, the brand confirmed that the “coupe” retained the name Basalt (the “last name” Vision, typical of show cars, was, of course, abandoned). Let us remind you that this SUV is the third model of the C-Cubed project, developed specifically for poor markets: Basalt will join the C3 hatchback and the C3 Aircross crossover (not to be confused with the models of the same name for Europe), which are already being produced in India and Brazil.

The silhouette and stern of the conveyor Citroen Basalt are almost the same as its predecessor. Only the plastic body kit «all around» has turned from glossy to matte. The front of the serial cross-coupe has not yet been demonstrated. But thanks to teasers, we know that the SUV has repeated the prototype in front. That is, the Basalt has the same «face» as the platform crossover Citroen C3 Aircross. At the same time, the Indian «coupe» is provided with LED headlights, while the related crossover with a traditional body is supposed to have only halogens (by the way, the South American concept Basalt Vision also did not have LED headlights). The dimensions are still not named. Probably, the coupe-like cross is close to the C3 Aircross. The length of the latter (in the Indian specification) is 4323 mm, the wheelbase is 2671 mm.

We saw the interior of Basalt in teasers; it was designed in the same vein as the Citroen C3 Aircross. Inside, they installed a digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a large tablet that rises above the front panel. However, the cross-coupe also has its own features. In particular, the Citroen Basalt received climate control with a push-button remote control instead of the usual air conditioning with washers, and a box armrest was added between the front seats (in the C3 Aircross the armrest is attached to the driver's seat). But the sunroof never appeared, which upset the Indian media.

The coupe-like five-door probably shared technology with its sister SUV of the usual format. Thus, in India, the Citroen Basalt will be offered with a 1.2 petrol turbo engine with a power of 110 hp, which is combined with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. And in Brazil, the new product will be available with a three-cylinder 1.0 turbo engine from Fiat, which traditionally for this country runs on both gasoline (125 hp) and ethanol (130 hp), where the model will be equipped with a CVT. In any case, the drive is only front-wheel drive.

A full presentation of the Citroen Basalt will be held in India on August 2, the Brazilians are expecting a serial SUV in September. The cross-coupe will be the most expensive model in the C-Cubed line. For example, the Indian Citroen C3 Aircross now costs from 999,000 rupees, which is equivalent to about 1.03 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
Meanwhile, in India, the fashion for coupe-like SUVs is gaining momentum: the main competitor The basalt there will be Tata Curvv.
