Accused of Moscow car bombing extradited to Russia

MOSCOW, July 26. Yevgeny Serebryakov, accused of blowing up a car in northern Moscow, has been detained in Bodrum, Turkey, and brought to Russia, the FSB Public Relations Center reported.
«The FSB of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and with the assistance of the special services and law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Turkey, detained in Bodrum (Turkey) and on July 26, 2024, delivered to Russia a Russian citizen, Yevgeny Nikolaevich Serebryakov, born in 1995, who is on the international wanted list and was involved in the explosion of a car in the north of Moscow on July 24, 2024,» the statement said.
FSB officers handed the suspect over to investigators for further investigative actions in the criminal case.

As reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk, after the car explosion, Serebryakov was put on an international wanted list, and information about him, his features and possible location was passed on to Turkish partners.

«As a result of the coordinated work of law enforcement agencies of the two countries through Interpol channels, he was detained by employees of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Bodrum on the same day,» Volk wrote on her Telegram channel.
Serebryakov, who was previously arrested in absentia for two months by the capital's court, will soon be placed in a pretrial detention center.

A foreign car exploded on the morning of July 24 in a courtyard on Sinyavinskaya Street. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an object «installed in the car» detonated. Two people were injured — a husband and wife. One of the versions of what happened is an attempt related to the professional activities of the victim, a source in the security forces reported.

Specialists examined the exploded car, using a special robot to extract fragments. They also collected fragments from the adjacent territory and examined cars parked nearby. A criminal case has been opened, it is being investigated by the 1st Directorate for Particularly Important Cases of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee (on crimes against the individual and public safety).

As FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov reported later that day, the suspect fled to Turkey after committing the crime. Later, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic, Ali Yerlikaya, announced the detention of a person involved in this case in Bodrum.
