WASHINGTON, July 26 China does not intend to interfere in the upcoming US presidential election in November and expects a similar approach in response, including with regard to the «Taiwan issue,» said Chinese Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng.
«China wants to be a friend and partner of the United States. We are not playing against the United States and do not intend to interfere in its internal affairs, including the upcoming presidential election,» the diplomat said at a ceremonial reception at the embassy dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
At the same time, he emphasized, Beijing expects a similar approach from Washington, including on the “Taiwan issue,” which remains the main irritant in relations between the two countries.
