As usual, the cross-version has a more impressive appearance. The ground clearance may also be increased. The new version probably shared the technology with the regular model.
The new, third generation Suzuki Spacia microvan launched in its native Japan in November last year. As before, customers are offered standard and “youth” versions, the latter bearing the “surname” Custom. Meanwhile, the previous generation Spacia still had an “off-road” option with the Gear prefix. A hint that the “crossover” would return to the model range appeared at the beginning of 2024, when Suzuki showed the Spacia Papa Boku Kitchen concept at an exhibition in Tokyo. So, now the company has confirmed the cross-version of the new generation: the serial Spacia Gear has acquired its own page on the Japanese consumer website of the brand.

The “off-road” van has an original radiator grille with slots and its own bumpers with protective pads, and roof rails are installed on the roof. In addition, the Suzuki Spacia has round LED headlights instead of rectangular ones. The sizes have not yet been revealed. However, the length and wheelbase are most likely the same as those of “just” Spacia and Spacia Custom (3395 and 2460 mm, respectively). But the ground clearance could be increased. The indicator for the remaining members of the family is 150 mm.

The interior features water-repellent fabric upholstery, and the trunk is lined with materials that are easy to clean. Like other modifications, Spacia Gear also received multifunctional rear seats with a movable part: it can be used as a footrest or as a clamp. The equipment list also includes a heated steering wheel. Options include a roof rack, a decorative decal and a sleeping mattress (which can be thrown over the folded seats).

The company has not yet revealed the technology, but it is likely carried over from the Spacia and Spacia Custom vans. The model is only available as a «mild» hybrid. The basic Suzuki kei car has a 660 cc gasoline engine with a capacity of 49 hp and an electric motor with 2.6 hp. The Spacia Custom also has a 64-horsepower turbo engine and an electric motor with a capacity of 3.1 hp. All versions are equipped with a CVT, front or all-wheel drive.
