MOSCOW, July 26 YouTube has blocked 200 Russian channels, including this year, Roskomnadzor reported.

"At the same time, the number of YouTube blocks of Russian channels is only growing. Having started with our media, journalists, public figures, this year the Americans have now started blocking videos of our musicians. And not just individual works, but entire works, simply because they are popular with Russians. In total, more than 200 of our channels are blocked now. This year alone — more than 80″, — the report says.
The department recalled that Google left Russia two years ago, “preferring the bankruptcy procedure of the Moscow office” and ceasing to support the infrastructure of its caching servers in Russian communication networks.
«This approach leads to a decrease in the quality of the video service, which we are already observing,» RKN added.
Earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, said that by the end of the week, the download speed of YouTube on computers could drop to 40%, and by the end of next week — to 70%.
At the same time, Rostelecom reported technical problems in the operation of equipment belonging to Google, which could affect the download speed and quality of playback of videos on YouTube for subscribers of all Russian operators. Also, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, reported that the authorities have no plans to restrict access to the platform in the Russian Federation.
