The Zhigulevsky District Court of the Samara Region sentenced pensioner Nadezhda Gridneva to one and a half years of restricted freedom in the case of attempted arson of a military registration and enlistment office (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code). The verdict was published on the court's website, and Mediazona drew attention to it.
During this period, the woman will not be able to leave Zhigulevsk and will have to report to security forces once a month. The time that Gridneva spent under house arrest and in a pretrial detention center — more than six months in total — was counted according to the day-for-day formula.
The pensioner was detained in mid-November last year. According to security forces, telephone scammers forced her to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office. Under the pretext of saving money, Gridneva transferred 255 thousand rubles to them. Later, the man, who introduced himself as Dmitry, told the pensioner that the Zhigulevsk military registration and enlistment office employs people who deprive people of money and apartments.
As the woman said during interrogation, when planning the arson, she thought that she would destroy the archive with information that the scammers use in their work. In total, Gridneva managed to throw three Molotov cocktails at the wall of the military registration and enlistment office. Experts found that the building suffered damage in the amount of 1,100 rubles.
During the investigation, the pensioner admitted her guilt. When making its decision, the court took into account her remorse and «active assistance in the investigation of the crime.»
