The Kialim reservoir dam has burst in the Chelyabinsk region, local authorities report.
According to the Chelyabinsk region department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the length of the dam washout is about one hundred meters. The department named heavy rainfall as the cause of the break.
Six villages are in the flood zone — Kialim, Mukhametovo, Karasayevo, Baydashevo, Saktayevo. Their residents are saving themselves from the water on the roofs of their houses, the authorities are planning to evacuate them.
