MOSCOW, July 27 Consulting nutritionist and deputy director of the ANO Scientific Center «Healthy Nutrition» Alexey Kabanov spoke about products that are not recommended to be eaten before a flight.

"The first thing you should not drink: tea or coffee. Not before the flight, and especially not during it. Plain still water is best. And it is better to ignore all foods and drinks that lead to dehydration. «It is important to nourish the body,» Kabanov said.
He added that a common problem on board is bloating, since the pressure in the plane increases, the stomach contracts, and accordingly, there is less space in the stomach. Therefore, carbonated drinks, fried and smoked foods are not recommended for consumption.
Kabanov also advised against eating legumes. It is better to avoid dishes made from beans, lentils and peas, which also contribute to bloating. Desserts and sweets are also important to exclude. Pastries, baked goods, butter in the composition — all these products provoke inevitable bloating.
«Alcohol is a serious enemy for an air traveler, not only does the negative effect of intoxication increase on board, but the liver also receives additional stress. And again we get a rumbling in the stomach,» the nutritionist noted.
Kabanov recommended drinking regular water and eating boiled food before the flight. This can be lean beef or low-fat fish, stewed vegetables, boiled potatoes or pasta.
