MOSCOW, July 26 The Central Bank of the Russian Federation sees no reason to exclude Russian subsidiaries of foreign banks from the list of systemically important credit institutions, it said during a press conference on Friday Head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina.
«As for systemically important credit institutions, we are clarifying the list in the fall and can update the parameters, we are considering all aspects of systemic importance… we have not carried out such an analysis, and now we are not ready to talk about which banks will remain and which will not. There are no such grounds to exclude Russian “subsidiaries” of foreign banks from there yet,” Nabiullina answered the question of what parameters the Central Bank will use to decide on the list of systemically important credit institutions and whether foreign credit institutions that are “winding down” their activities in Russia can disappear from them .
At the beginning of March, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Olga Polyakova said that the list of systemically important banks in the Russian Federation at the end of this year could be replenished if the methodology for assigning such status is revised. Previously, Polyakova stated that the Bank of Russia, when clarifying the criteria for the systemic importance of credit institutions, will also take into account the size of the client base.
Currently, there are 13 banks in the list of systemically important credit institutions.
