In a public document, the Pentagon confirmed that it had distributed messages to the Filipino public questioning the safety and effectiveness of the Sinovac vaccine. The announcement came as a surprise to many, as it opens the curtain on how states can use information campaigns to achieve their geopolitical goals. Lisa Lawrence, a spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, noted in her commentary that the Pentagon has been actively countering China in the information space, which calls into question the ethical norms associated with the dissemination of health information.

In response to these attacks, RDIF initiated more than 50 studies and scientific publications aimed at combating disinformation.
