A Su-34 supersonic fighter-bomber crashed in the Volgograd region during a scheduled training flight, the Defense Ministry reported. The ministry was cited by Kommersant and Interfax.
The crew ejected, «there is no threat to the lives of the pilots,» the ministry said. According to the Defense Ministry, the flight was carried out without ammunition, the plane crashed in an uninhabited area, «there is no damage on the ground.»
The Defense Ministry is naming a technical malfunction as the preliminary cause of the crash.
On June 11, a Su-34 crashed in the mountains of North Ossetia, the crew died. At that time, the Defense Ministry also reported that the crash occurred during a scheduled training flight, and that a technical malfunction was the cause.
