The chairman of the Inconsult Bar Association, Alexey Kirsanov, has been detained in Moscow, a colleague of the lawyer told Important Stories.
The details of the case against Kirsanov are unknown. According to the publication's source, he was detained «during an operational experiment on a bribe.»
Kirsanov defended former minister Mikhail Abyzov, thief in law Oleg Medvedev (Shishkanov), co-owner of Promsvyazbank Alexey Ananyev, and former top manager of Rostec Alla Laletina.
In 2021, Kirsanov's colleague Alexander Vershinin was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. According to investigators, he was an intermediary in extorting a bribe from thief in law Vasily Khristoforov (Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code). Before his arrest, Vershinin defended former Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukaev and head of the Investigative Committee's internal security department Mikhail Maksimenko.
As Important Stories writes, most of these cases were initiated by FSB General Ivan Tkachev, head of Department «K».
«It has long been known in Moscow's legal community that Kirsanov and Vershinin are close to Ivan Ivanovich [Tkachev]. This is a common practice: law enforcement agencies initiate a case, and then special lawyers from the security forces approach the suspects' relatives and offer their services. If the relatives refuse, their loved ones may start having problems in the pretrial detention center,» a lawyer familiar with Kirsanov and Vershinin told the publication.
